History and Description
In 1976, the Revista Tecnológica Espol - RTE℗ of the Escuela Superior Politecnica del Litoral, started as a printed journal. It has been characterized by publishing articles with scientific and technological information. It began with institutional funds within our university budget, with the purpose of promoting formative research at ESPOL, as well as preparing future researchers in their process of scientific publications in all areas of knowledge related to their undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
Since 2005, the Revista Tecnológica Espol - RTE℗ of the Escuela Superior Politecnica del Litoral is available online, as a digital journal. It addresses multidisciplinary issues on a scientific and technological level in various areas of knowledge. The Revista Tecnológica Espol - RTE℗ mainly publishes novel and original scientific research articles, by national and international authors. It also publishes technical articles on practical applications, exploratory studies and literature reviews that support and encourage the work of potential and future researchers.
Publishing and indexing media
The Revista Tecnológica Espol - RTE℗ is published digitally and in open access on its platform rte.espol.edu.ec. It is registered in several indexes and database directories and has a continuous evaluation process of new forms of indexing that allow greater visibility for published articles and their authors.
The Revista Tecnológica Espol - RTE℗ upholds open access policies without submission, reviewing, publication, or access fees.
Publishing schedule
The Revista Tecnológica Espol - RTE℗ presents scheduled calls for article submissions (Call for papers) in Spanish or English languages, guaranteeing the publication of two volumes per year (in June and December). In addition, special volumes-issues are produced on a specific topic (such as a Monograph or Dossier) related to scientific events (ie. Congresses or symposiums). In the case of international special issues, articles in other languages can be published in agreement with the Guest editors if the title and abstract are also included in Spanish and English.

If authors are already registered, they can simply log in and start the process in a sequential form that is easy to access and follow.

The Revista Tecnológica Espol – RTE® presents Volume 38, Issue 1: 50 Years of Excellence, a commemorative edition celebrating five decades of contribution to scientific and technological knowledge. Since its foundation in 1976, the journal has evolved alongside research, innovation, and higher education, becoming a multidisciplinary reference for publishing significant contributions in engineering, technology, social sciences, and life sciences, thanks to the collective work of authors, reviewers, and editors.
This issue highlights artificial intelligence as a driving force for innovation, advances in inclusive and technology-mediated education, studies on business, economics, and sustainable development, and contributions to sustainable agriculture focused on food security and efficient resource use.
In its fiftieth anniversary year, Revista Tecnológica Espol – RTE® celebrates its inclusion in Scopus, one of the most prestigious international bibliographic indexes, recognizing its scientific and editorial quality. This edition also features a commemorative article that traces the journal’s history, evolution, and key milestones.
